Our Favorite Recipeez
Time seems to be something many of us parents have little of. The days of a well balanced home cooked meal, cloth napkins, and a candle lit dinner (yes, my grandmother did this for every meal) have quickly faded. I recently saw at Starbucks, you can text your order in so you don’t have to wait for your coffee. Really?? Are we that in a rush these days.
If we don’t even have time to wait for Starbucks to pour us our coffee, how do we make time to create well-balanced meals for our children? A lot of my friends do weekly prepping. I think this is fantastic if you are that organized. I, however, am not! I do try and write down recipes that I think the whole family will love and then make sure to add the needed ingredients to my weekly shopping list.
Of course, with all the running around we do there are many nights where a sandwich or pancakes becomes a last minute resort. I have also heard that people use and love their crock pots. Supposedly, you can throw all the ingredients in and then leave it to cook all day. You come home to a delicious meal and yummy smelling home (at least that’s what I’ve heard). Again, I am not organized enough to do this while also trying to make 4 lunches before school and just getting the first sips of my coffee in…which I waited to brew and then drink.
So what do I do? I try and remember to defrost meat, have lots of veggies and hope I can create something with what is in my fridge. This is where my trusty cookbook or saved online recipes come in handy. I do my best to make a well balanced meal…often coming out stranger looking then the pretty recipe picture and most likely not tasting nearly as good. “A” for effort!
Here are some of my favorite websites that help me keep my meals balanced and clean eating. I would love to hear some of yours too!
